STRW Therapist Qualifications
It is recommended that one lead therapist facilitate both the weekly caregiver group session and the weekly individual caregiver/teen dyad sessions because they are then able to incorporate all of the observations and information from the caregiver, the teen, and the caregiver/teen interaction to get a comprehensive conceptualization of how to target specific daily living skills goals most effectively.
Ideal therapists of the STRW intervention are psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, and/or special education teachers who have experience working with adolescents and their parent/caregivers to target the acquisition of specific skills using evidence-based strategies. STRW therapists will need to feel comfortable doing the following:
- Building and maintaining rapport with adolescents and their caregivers
- Knowing when and how to challenge caregivers/teens about issues such as setting realistic goals and prioritizing the practicing of daily living skills during the week
- Providing supportive feedback and coaching to caregivers and teens as they practice daily living skills during dyad sessions
It is recommended that all STRW therapists attend the 2-day STRW Training and read the STRW Intervention manual prior to facilitating the intervention. A list of certified STRW therapists can be found below.

We are currently planning for our 2027 STRW Clinician Trainings, which will cover all of the essential information that is needed to conduct the 15-week telehealth intervention with neurodivergent teens and their parents/caregivers!
